Dear Roslindale Neighbor:
According to 80% of you who filled out our resident survey, the quality of a neighborhood business district is an
important factor when you decide where to live and shop.
All of us who live in Roslindale have a stake in supporting a vibrant neighborhood business district. So, if you find
yourself spending more of your money at stores and restaurants in other locations, please remember that every
dollar you spend in your neighborhood strengthens the community you call home.
Roslindale Village has seen a lot of positive developments over the past decade. Yet, we still have much to do.
According to our survey, neighbors want to see more retail variety. Neighbors also want to see more attention paid
to the cleanliness and overall image of the district and the attractiveness of storefronts. We are busy working on
these priorities.
Roslindale Village Main Street is a nonprofit organization that works to improve the heart of your neighborhood.
We recruit people to open new businesses here. We advocate for better City services. We offer incentives to
merchants who agree to fix their storefronts. We draw crowds into Adams Park for events. We rely on volunteers
and donors like you.
Now, you can give something back to your community and support Roslindale Village Main Street by becoming
a member or a volunteer.
For your $25 donation, you will receive an invitation to our members reception in the Birch Street
courtyard in May. Join us and meet others from Roslindale.
In addition, we invite you to the Wentworth Institute of Technology on April 25 to see new design proposals
for the abandoned gas station property and red brick substation on Washington Street. The Boston
Redevelopment Authority has just awarded our organization a grant to conduct a strategic plan to map out
the next phase of revitalization. We welcome your ideas.
Help us help your neighborhood. We recently held a meeting with City agencies to outline better ways to
keep Roslindale Village clean. We also spend $10,000 a year to host free public events, from the Egg Hunt
in Adams Park to the weekly Farmer’s Market in summer.Your support makes a difference in Roslindale.
Make an investment in Roslindale’s future. Mail your donation to “Roslindale Village Main Street” today. Visit
our website for additional updates, event listings and the results of our survey of residents. Get your free Community
Change Card, good for discounts at participating local businesses. Become a Main Street volunteer. Most of
all, bring your friends to Roslindale Village and help us make your neighborhood a better place.
Sincerely,
Charlie McCarthy, Board President
