The Greater Roslindale Medical and Dental Center at 4199 Washington Street has been serving the Roslindale community since 1975. In 2005 a new facility was erected in the center of Roslindale Village, which now houses the Center and the New England Eye Institute. Health and wellness colleague Karen Kirchoff, an acupuncturist and herbalist with a practice on Cohasset St., sits down with Executive Director Barbara Lottero.

Tufts report provides insight on consumer demographics, transportation

This past winter and spring, the RVMS Economic Development committee partnered with a team from the Tufts Graduate Program for Urban and Environmental Studies to examine paths for continued economic development in Roslindale Village. Through an extensive research process which included shopper surveys, business owner interviews, and observations, the graduate team sought to create an up-to-date picture of Roslindale’s shifting consumer demographics and business mix. The report also examines some of the district’s challenges around access and transportation, particularly regarding parking and pedestrian access.

This week at the Farmers’ Market

Last week’s Sustainable Living Day at the Farmers’ Market was another huge success, with Adams Park bustling with activity all morning. 26 vendors and a number of local community groups were at the market, featuring an array of products, activities and ideas for living green in the city in addition to loads of local produce, crafts and specialty foods. Live music kept all ages tapping their feet in time while doing their shopping, and our first weekly raffle winners were drawn! Read more

Substation plans on hold for now

The Boston Redevelopment Authority, which owns the 1911 red brick substation across from Adams Park, has turned down three development proposals for the building, which were submitted in response to an RFP in 2008. The BRA said none of the proposals met the agency’s criteria to justify sale of the property to a private owner, though they have restated their commitment to keep momentum alive toward revitalizing this key parcel.
