Tomato and Zucchini Day left market-goers psyched for the beautiful heirlooms of late August! Mayor Menino celebrated Main Street‘s anniversary and the success of the Roslindale Market with us and tasted some of our farms’ fabulous tomatoes. Popular varieties were Two Field‘s Black Prince, Neighborhood Farm‘s Black Krims, Ferrara‘s tomatoes, Allandale‘s Mountain Fresh tomatoes, MacArthur‘s Trust tomatoes, and Springbrook‘s Sweet Mildreds. Check them out this Saturday! Also check out our photos from Dog Day!

When you run a small business from behind a desk or a cash register, it’s hard to see your business the way a customer sees it: from the outside looking in.

Public meeting on Roslindale substation – Thursday, August 19
Filed Under Live, Work | Leave a Comment
The Boston Redevelopment Authority, owner of the 1911 red brick substationat Washington Street and Cummins Highway, will hold a public meeting onThursday, August 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the Roslindale Community Center. At the meeting, the BRA will present a proposal to grant two nonprofit entities (Historic Boston Incorporated and Roslindale Village Main Street) an interim designation to promote redevelopment of the long vacant structure.
HBI and RVMS funded a feasibility study of the building’s redevelopment in 2002. That study led the MBTA to sell the vacant property to the BRA to
facilitate development. The building has stood vacant for several decades. The
BRA’s recent request for development proposals from private developers did not
yield any proposals that satisfied the BRA’s requirements. With their
longstanding interest in preserving the vacant historic structure, HBI
and RVMS seek to continue exploring viable redevelopment options over the
next year.
