Regeneration comes to Birch Street

Regeneration, a new shop featuring vintage and original clothing, accessories and furnishings, opened this month at 20 Birch St.  Owner Kelly Witmer recently relocated to Roslindale from Los Angeles, bringing her shop with her.  Stop by to say hello and check out Kelly’s original silkscreen designs, including a custom Roslindale Farmers’ Market t-shirt design! “Traffic” public sculpture gets long-awaited city approval

Imagine driving through the intersection of Belgrade Avenue and Corinth Street and coming upon a whimsical kinetic sculpture, depicting colorful cars, trucks and people revolving on a never-ending loop in the middle of the traffic island.

Such a sculpture is set to become a reality, as the Boston Art Commission recently approved the Roslindale Public Art Council’s final presentation of Traffic, a wind-driven forged steel sculpture by artist George Greenamyer.

BRA makes RVMS/Historic Boston substation designation official

Last week, the Boston Redevelopment Authority awarded RVMS and another nonprofit organization, Historic Boston Inc., an Interim Designation to promote redevelopment of the vacant substation at Washington Street and Cummins Highway.  The groups, who worked together in 2002 to produce a feasibility study for the site,  will partner again to propose a financially viable development plan over the next 12 months. Stay tuned for more information and announcements of community meetings on this topic in the year ahead!

Come for Recycle Art with local artist Kasey Appleman at 10am. Shufflin’ Time Tap with Patrice Monahan will take off at 11am – enjoy the fabulous energy of tap dancing and join in if you like!
