Dear Roslindale Neighbor:
Roslindale Village has come a long way over the past 20 years. With your support, Roslindale Village Main Street will work to make our neighborhood even better in 2008.
Later this year, Staples will fill a long vacant site with a new $3 million store. The City of Boston just completed a $5 million renovation of the Roslindale Community Center , at Washington Street and Cummins Highway . We are working with the Boston Redevelopment Authority to generate ideas on how best to use the vacant, red brick landmark across the street.
Our mission is to promote Roslindale Village as an appealing destination and the dynamic center of our community. As a nonprofit organization, we bring together local volunteers, businesses and public agencies to strengthen the village’s economic vitality, physical appearance and unique local character.
Please give something back to your community and support Roslindale Village Main Street with a donation of $25 or more. Our volunteer Board of Directors will match the first $5,000 in donations from residents. Citizens Bank, our lead business sponsor, will contribute $25,000. We need to hear from 600 Roslindale households in order to meet our fundraising goal.
Based on input from Roslindale residents, we set three main objectives for this year:
1. Enhance Roslindale Village’s image as a well-maintained, safe and visually appealing location. Last year, we secured a commitment from the Boston Public Works Department to provide daily sidewalk clean ups to control the litter problem. Things look better, but there is still a lot to do.
2. Facilitate economic development at vacant properties, especially near the Roslindale Library. We are also working with the following businesses to design and install new storefronts or signs: Dandelion’s Flowers, Ron’s Automotive, 749 South Street offices, and Roslindale Fish Market.
3. Promote everything Roslindale Village has to offer to people throughout Boston . You may have seen the Lilac Sunday poster designed by one of our volunteers, a Roslindale illustrator. With your financial support, we plan to do a lot more this year to share our pride in Roslindale.
Every dollar you spend at a Roslindale business makes Roslindale a stronger neighborhood. Help us keep up the improvements in Roslindale Village . Volunteer a little time. Tell your friends about places to shop and eat in Roslindale. Visit roslindale.net to learn more.
Thank you for taking pride in our community. Your donation makes our work possible.
