Roslindale Village Main Street (RVMS) is an established nonprofit with more than 40 years of successful urban placemaking, community development, and local business promotion. We are seeking a full-time Program Coordinator to join our team.
Working closely with the Executive Director (ED), the Program Coordinator will help build community both in-person and digitally. Core responsibilities include managing RVMS's digital presence and marketing efforts, overseeing our volunteer program, and coordinating the ongoing activities of two volunteer committees: Design and Economic Development. We're looking for someone who is creative, detail-oriented, and confident managing multiple projects at once.
This is a rewarding role that offers the opportunity to see the direct impact of your work in a vibrant Boston neighborhood, while gaining hands-on experience in nonprofit management, communications, urban planning, project management, and economic development.
This is a temporary, full-time position beginning early September 2026 through approximately February 2027, covering an employee's family leave, with a strong possibility of extension or conversion to a permanent role with adjusted responsibilities based on organizational needs and performance.

Responsibilities:
Marketing & Communications

Manage forward-facing marketing and communications for RVMS events, projects, and business happenings through a weekly email newsletter, social media (Facebook and Instagram), and our website.

Create and manage content marketing efforts, including capturing community stories through photography and videography.

Oversee marketing and digital analytics and reporting, with the goal of increasing reach and impact.

Partner with the Events Manager to promote recurring events effectively, including managing paid advertising and distributing press releases.

Maintain the Community Calendar and approve public submissions.

Volunteer Management

Manage volunteer recruitment and coordination, including scheduling and leading quarterly Volunteer Orientations.

Work with the ED and Events Manager to develop and implement yearly volunteer committee work plans.

Serve as the primary staff liaison for the Design and Economic Development committees, overseeing all committee projects, including seasonal plantings and neighborhood beautification, clean-ups, and quarterly workshops for local business owners.

Coordinate with the Events Manager to identify and fulfill volunteer needs for organization events.

Organize quarterly volunteer socials to strengthen and engage the volunteer community.
Small Business Support

Manage the ROSStore Sign Improvement Grant Program.

Maintain the vacancy page on the RVMS website.

Write and distribute the monthly Small Business Resource Newsletter.
Fundraising & Event Support

Support organizational event coordination.

Assist with grant applications on a project-by-project basis.

Support organizational fundraising efforts as appropriate.

Coordinate with the ED to fulfill sponsor marketing commitments.

Work with the ED to produce biannual donor appeals.
Qualifications:

2+ years of volunteer coordination or program management experience strongly preferred.

Demonstrated ability to build rapport with business owners, volunteers, and community stakeholders.

Skill in content creation, including e-newsletters, photography, videography, and/or writing.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple dynamic tasks with attention to detail.

Experience with database management and platforms including Google Drive, Constant Contact, Wix, and social media (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube).

Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to take initiative and make the most of available tools.

Spanish language proficiency a plus.
Position Details & Benefits:

Term: Temporary, full-time role from approximately early September 2026 through February 2027 (~6 months), covering a staff member's family leave. Strong potential to extend or convert to a permanent position, with adjusted responsibilities, based on organizational needs and performance.

Schedule: In-person at the Roslindale office 4 days/week, 1 day remote.

Compensation: Annual salary range of $60,000–$65,000, prorated for the length of the temporary term based on actual start and end dates.

Sick & vacation time: Accrued per RVMS policy for the duration of employment.

Health insurance: RVMS covers 50% of an individual premium for employees working 30+ hours/week, effective from date of hire.

Paid holidays: Includes RVMS's standard holiday schedule.

Retirement plan: RVMS's Simple IRA match requires 1 year of employment; this would begin accruing toward eligibility if the role converts to permanent.
