RVMS 2026 Gala Honorees: Glenn & Janice Williams, A Shared Legacy

Glenn and Janice Williams have been among Roslindale's most dedicated and beloved community champions, weaving together a shared legacy of arts, activism, and neighborhood building that has shaped the character of Roslindale — or as Glenn will always insist, "Rossie Square" — for decades.

Few people have given more of themselves to Roslindale Village Main Street than Glenn and Janice Williams. With Janice serving as Executive Director — a role she held twice — and Glenn championing as RVMS Board President, they successfully steered

the organization for years and were instrumental in establishing the Roslindale Farmers Market in Adams Park. Glenn also volunteered as the Farmers Market's emcee and DJ, bringing warmth and energy to the market week after week. Together, they co-led the Roslindale Arts Alliance, bringing signature events like Roslindale Open Studios and Porch Fest to life, celebrations of creativity and community that continue to thrive today. And for 24 years, Glenn and Janice co-hosted "It's All About Arts" on BNN, a show that reflected everything they stood for, amplifying artists, celebrating culture, and making the arts accessible to all.

Janice, a gifted writer and artist, had a way of elevating the people and projects around her. Glenn, a lifelong resident of Roslindale, continues that mission in his role as General Manager of Boston's PEG Access stations, ensuring every community voice has a platform to be heard. He serves on numerous boards spanning arts, media, and public health, including the Boston Arts Academy Advisory Committee, the National Alliance for Community Media, and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Virology and Vaccine Research Community Advisory Board.

Janice Marie Williams passed away on September 8, 2023, at the age of 73, after a longtime respiratory illness. A talented artist and writer as well as a tireless organizer, she was remembered throughout the city as someone whose warmth and drive elevated everyone around her. Her impact lives on in every Open Studios weekend, every Porch Fest performance, and every stall at the Roslindale Farmers Market.

This year's gala is a celebration of both of them — a partnership rooted in love for each other and for the Roslindale community.
